Christina Ramos [Interview]
So how is life treating you?
It’s alright. Too cold really. Just trying to get back into the rhythm of school, keep focused, & keep my grades up.
Being a college student how much time do you have for photography?
I mean college keeps me busy but sometimes I do have free time and all I want to do is shoot but shooting pictures of myself gets old. Haha. I need models! No, but I can’t say exactly how much time I have for it but I definitely make the time for it. It’s what I love to do and every chance I get I try and learn something new and improve as an artist.
If anything what has photography taught you?
Photography has taught me that you can show the world in many different perspectives. It has taught me more about my creativity and it is a constant reminder of my talents, what I am truly passionate about and how far I can go with my creativity and my ideas and so far they seem endless & I love that.
Why do you take pictures of the things you do?
I mean I have taken photos of different things but my favorite subject is people. I love capturing precious moments and emotions. I also love to style people and use them as a canvas to tell a story with my photos. I have always been a visual person and I love to be able to capture and show them through my mind and my eyes
You seem very artistic so I'm sure you have links where others can see your works and anything else you're involved with?
Yes! For now I can only really provide you with a link to my Flickr simply because the other recent projects I have collaborated and worked on are not yet posted. http://www.flickr.com/photos/xtinaramosphotography/
What made you want to be a photographer?
I mean I have always enjoyed shooting pictures and being in pictures but I would say that I knew that I wanted to be a photographer when I took photography in high school. I think my love for fashion, makeup, modeling, creativity, and everything else that falls into those categories is mainly what made me want to be a photographer. Like I mentioned before I love to express myself in creative ways and being able to tell a story by a certain type of hair, makeup, wardrobe, and setting is just so fascinating and appealing to me.
I see you freelance, where can viewers contact you?
They can email me (xtinasomar@gmail.com) or contact me through my http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=688960432. I think I might make a Facebook “company page” thing soon so people can hit me up through there too.
What is a photo shoot like with you?
I would say fun, exciting, and chill at the same time. I always want my shoots to be fun and I want my subjects to open up and not be afraid of the camera or share their ideas. I am an open minded person and I tell everyone that every photo shoot is not only a learning experience but an ADVENTURE. Almost every time we end up improvising. They are not always successful but a lot of the time they are and are much more amazing than what we originally had planned. I like to have an idea and or concept for the shoot but I never restrict my creativity or the models creativity. It’s fun to break boundaries and really explore. But anyway, a photo shoot with me is fun, exciting, and a great adventure.
Does living in Indiana have any type of influence on your photography?
I mean yeah but I don’t let that be my only influence. That’s no fun ;)
Do you have any words of encouragement or anything else you would like to say?
Every experience is an adventure. Don’t be afraid to try something new and jump out of your comfort zone or typical routine. You may never know what you can discover. Although sometimes it may not seem like it, the world is big and filled with endless ideas and opportunities. The sky is the limit but remember that the sky goes beyond the clouds in the sky for there are stars, planets, and other galaxies far beyond. Don’t ever sell yourself short and limit yourself to your dreams and the possibilities. Follow your heart and passions always because 8/10 they won’t fail you and you will be happy.
